From a Governor

LA Maintained Schools:

The remit of the governing body:

The purpose of the Board of Governors is to provide confident, strategic leadership and to create robust accountability, oversight and assurance for the educational and financial performance of the school. The Governing Body meets regularly,  usually at least once every half-term. Its three core functions are:-

  1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  2. Holding school leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and
  3. Overseeing the financial performance of the school, and making sure its funding is well spent.

The constitution of our governing body is as follows:

Term of office for all governors is 4 years.

Dear Parents and Carers,

I have been a governor at Ashfield Infant & Nursery School for since 2004. During this time I have been privileged to see the school go from strength to strength. The governing body works extremely hard alongside all staff and management. We constantly review and discuss ways to improve our school and are confident that each child is given the best possible start to th

eir education. The school maintains excellent end of Key Stage 1 results and we pride ourselves on having high expectations of all pupils and staff. Great emphasis is given that every child should be a “good citizen” and the school works hard to promote personal, social and life skills.

The staff are extremely committed to treating each child individually and they work closely with parents to provide an excellent academic foundation in all aspects of the curriculum.

The school puts great emphasis on encouraging children in extra curricular activities. After school clubs include sport, art, drama, dance, music, sewing art & craft, and gardening.

All three of my own children attended the school so as a parent, I was able to see first hand the school’s approach to its pupils.

As Chair of Governors I am privileged to get this opportunity to highly recommend Ashfield Infant & Nursery School.

Claire Humes

Dear Parents & Carers

My name is Tanya Peers and I am a co-opted governor at Ashfield Infant & Nursery School.

I have two daughters, Erin-Nicole who is now at the Juniors and Ella who started the new Nursery in 2017. My daughters have had an excellent start to their education and I am delighted they have been nurtured at Ashfield Infant and Nursery School.

It has been lovely to see the addition of the Nursery in September and it has been well received by parents. The staff have worked extremely hard to ensure the appropriate facilities and resources to support the children’s learning in this new venture. Ella is so familiar with the routines of school, she has a good relationship with the adults and has made so many new friends! She goes to school with a big smile on her face and returns home with a smile along with tales of all the fun things that she did in her busy day.
